Question I know someone can answer

Why do some people drop the mag and shoot one bullet, reload, repeat? What is the purpose of shooting after you drop the mag? I know my ignorance is showing so please, someone, enlighten me! Thanks.

Good question, I've never seen anyone do that.

I watched a guy do it 8 times with a Sig Nightmare 1911 and just couldn't figure out why!

To see it the gun is reliable and will not malfunction without a mag. Many will not eject or stove pipe without a mag in. Itís a basic reliability test.

Are you sure he wasn't changing mags keeping the last bullet in the chamber until he reloaded. That way he wouldn't have an empty gun at anytime.

No, I watched him charge the gun, drop the mag, shoot and then repeat for a full 8 rounds. It does make sense it's a reliability test and the gun was "out of the box" new so that is probably what he was doing. I just had never seen that!
