Angry Super Carry Pro HD Completely Frozen Shut

I'm Heartbroken
Last Sunday took my Super Carry Pro HD out to the gun range.
This is the one I had the Cerakote done in the CDP color scheme.

I had fired 50 rounds of the Freedom Munitions HUSH ammunition on Christmas Eve.

Then Last Sunday visited the range to fire 150 rounds of the same ammunition.

Both outings the SCPHD performed flawlessly.

Upon finishing my firing and before packing up from the range; I cycled the slide several times to make double sure it was in fact unloaded.

Here is were the problem began.

The slide felt extremely stiff to cycle. Requiring what I judged 3-4 times the strength to rack the slide.

Packed up and went to the truck. Took the handgun out again to cycle it again and it was FROZEN.

This time I really put the meat to it and cycled the slide open.

Called my Cerakote applicator to verify there was no abnormalities on reassembly after Cerakoting.
He assured me there was not.

As most know the SCPHD is a Series 70.

Went ahead and dropped the slide and returned home.

Reaching home I was of course going to clean it. Went to open the slide to begin disassembly and again, ITS FROZEN SHUT!!

The slide will move just a little.
But on closer examination.
The Hammer is frozen about 1/4 back, and seams the likely culprit in limiting function.

Total round count through the gun 700 rounds exactly.

I plan on contacting Kimber about the matter.

But its driving me nuts wondering what's wrong?

Comments:
Experiences?
Thoughts?
Feelings?
Ideas?

I really don't want to mess with it myself.

Because you had the gun refinished Kimber may not be happy and charge you accordingly. Personally I'd try to get the slide off the gun, from there it wouldn't be to hard to figure out what the problem is. If your not comfortable trying to remove the slide yourself you might be best off trying to find a local gunsmith to do it for you. I've never dealt with Cerakote and I wonder if it could be built up on the slide rails. This would be a good thread for Cundiff5535 to voice an opinion.

Thanks!
And I fully agree Chuck!

That's why I called Brian, the applicator. He was extra careful with the interior of the gun.

But if that was the problem. Would it not have shown up before 200 rounds?

I have spoke with a Gunsmith here in OKC that is supposed to be the 1911 Guerue. His name is Dr. Berry Greyson( he also happens to be a dentist).
He told me that sometimes 1911's develop a spur and it splinters off and jams things up.

He told me to drop it by his office. But with my crazy work schedule 6 A.M.- 8P.M I haven't been by his place yet.

The times I had the slide open I seen no abnormalities.
But then again I'm no expert!
At this point the Hammer is frozen and keeps the slide from moving back enough to disassemble the slide!

I don't think your problem is the finish. I'd bet something wasn't reinstalled properly or broke. A competent gunsmith should be able to fix it for you. I do agree however that Kimber will consider it modified and will not honor the warranty.
