Compact, CCO, etc.

Why does Kimber make only two compact models.
Why, in general, aren't CCO more popular?

Pretty good question. But my guess would be that if you're going to buy a pistol with a shortened grip for conceal carry purposes, they why add another inch to the barrel? May as well stay with the 3" barrel on the short grip. I understand why there is a Ultra+ for those with large hands, but again I would have just purchased a Pro (Commander) size pistol. YMMV

BTW, my Super Carry Ultra HD, with it's 3" barrel, is a great shooter. A 4" barrel would not have helped, and probably would ruin the balance of the gun. IMO

In all probability it has to do with sales, why offer more models of guns that are slow movers off the dealers shelves?

Well, maybe I am biased .
Compact sizes have been my preferred carry choice for some time. I carry sub compact or pocket pistols if I have to, but my preference is always for a more "reasonable"size and weight. I don't like guns that are too small and even more I don't like guns that are too light. Here is an example, one of my Beretta 92 L (compact) next to the my Kimber Compact. I have several full sizes and an 85 but the compact is the one I prefer to carry. And probably it is not a coincidence that the Kimber is very close in size and weight to the 92L (less than two ounces difference). Plus I like to carry a gun that I can also (really) enjoy at the range.

But my guess would be that if you're going to buy a pistol with a shortened grip for conceal carry purposes, they why add another inch to the barrel?
I understand your point, but mine (if I have to have a point) is different. I understand 100% that the Ultra size can be more attractive to many because of its size and weight. I am a little more surprised that for those that don't like (or trust) the Officer size the only choice (for carry) seems to be the Commander size. My point is, paraphrasing your question, if you like the longer barrel, why do you want a longer grip as well? I would have though that the shorter grip would be considered an advantage by many more people that chose their gun for carry purposes.

I have a variety of pocket pistols and I have full, pro and ultra sized Kimber 1911's. My favorite carry gun is my Super Carry Pro, everybody has a different idea of what's right for them. Why do some men prefer blonds and others red heads?

My edc is a Shield 9mm that I carry for it's lack of weight {17oz} and it's reliability..
Since it will be in the new owners hands tomorrow and my new Shield .40cal won't be here for a few more days I will be carrying another firearm that is over 25oz and this will be something new to me..
My future edc will be a UC Raptor but that won't be for a few months...

At least Mother Nature gives us the choice of blonds, readheads and brunettes. Far more generous than Kimber .

Anyhow, I think I have to come to terms with what is available. I think I have to buy a Compact CDP
