What is this? Was cleaning my new Stainless II and saw these strange markings.

People have reporting seeing similar marking their barrels, seems to be some kind of code Kimber started putting on them. None of my Kimbers or any other have markings like that

That would be a new inventory stamp that is being done on newer firearm parts. Simply scan it and the info goes to the inventory stat sheet.

Info provided by Paula @ Kimber CS.....
JC45 and DaveinNC like this.

I figured it was some kind of barcode thing. Never seen that done on metal before.

Not On Barrel

It is not on the barrel, but located on the frame under (I think) the right grip panel of my Gold Combat Limited Edition. The mark on mine is smaller.

I just had the same question in another section post: https://www.kimbertalk.com/forums/kim...tml#post680538

I read a while back that gun manufacturers were going to start saving ballistic markings on barrels. They would fire a round and file the marking pattern, so it could be matched in the event of a crime. I don't know if they actually do that or if it has anything to do with those marks. Don't want to sound paranoid. Just wondering.

I remember when bar codes started coming out when I was a young lad and my mama called them the mark of the beast for some reason. I think it had to to with this scripture in the book of Revelation 13:16-17.

"And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or on their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."
