Something old, something new (pictures)

Here's a side by side of my old Remington 1911 and my brand new Kimber. The Remington is a 1945 vintage that has been in the family as long as I can remember. It is the first gun I ever remember shooting. I was probably about 10 years old. My dad grew up on a farm in southern Indiana and we would visit at least once a year. There was a pond out back in the woods and we would take stuff out there and blow up. I remember one day we were out there and this HUGE spider dropped down out of a tree. I mean it was huge. My dad just calmly pointed the 1911 at it and shot it. I swear it looked like the Death Star blowing up. Anyway, there are a lot of good memories in that gun. In a few years I will pass it on to my son. It's old, worn out and clanky, but it still shoots great.

A pretty pair! I like the 1911 style...I have had my Colt 45 since 1974. Love to shoot it when I can.

That old Remington is worth a fortune in memories, don't ever let anything happen to it. It wouldn't be too hard to freshen up the internals on that gun to keep it shooting.

I was thinking about doing that. It rattles when you shake it. The slide is a bit loose, but it still shoots.
