Please measure your thing.....

.....I mean spring.

Quite awhile ago in a land far away, a bunch of us jumped on swapping out guide rod springs for the Wilson flat wire kits.
(Remember?)

I swapped out mine in my SS Raptor Pro and didnít get to shoot it right away. When I did, it shot fine. But I was buggered about how hard it was to rack. Since then, I never got around to shooting it but decided to polish it. Old news.

Spoke to Kimber today and asked why my Kimber SS Raptor Pro was so hard to rack compared t my other Kimbers, (full size and ultra). They said it shouldnít be. They said it sounded like the guide rod spring. They said they would look at it but I didnít want to send it in right now.

After going nuts for months trying to smooth this puppy out, it was all a failure. Now frustrated, today I put the original back in and it was still a tad tight but no where near the Wilson scenario. Iím content at this point.

**** So, if someone would please, at your leisure, measure your Wilson flat wire for a 4Ē and 5Ē model. Iím wondering if way back when, Wilson sent the wrong spring. The package does say for a 4Ē gun.

Would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Compared to the factory spring, yes...I figure it will lighten up after getting more rounds through it since my WC FW spring has less than 1K through it and the factory spring never was that difficult to rack with a new or used recoil spring.

BTW----the factory spring in the pic had close to 1200 rounds through it.

I guess Iíll just leave the factory in then. I donít get to shoot much lately and it will take too long to gather up that many rounds through the pipe. Prob is I have too many pistols I like to shoot and I try giving them equal love... lol.

What is weird though is I have flats in my Colt Govt and SOC and they are no issue. -shrug-

This is a case where a recoil spring scale could fill in some blanks.
