It states in the manual that I need to replace the recoil spring in my Pro CDP after 800 rounds. I have the 9mm. It seems so soon and it doesn't take long to get there. My question is should I do it that soon and then it doesn't say if that is what you should do all the time. I mean even my Micro goes longer than that.
I have put 3 times the amount on a spring before and never had an issue, but I wouldn't suggest that for someone else's gun. I have changed all but my UCII Kimbers over to the the Wilson Combat FlatWire springs and haven't looked back. No tools are needed if you use this spring.
As far as the guide rod compression tool I bought one from Pistol Accent many years ago and it works like a charm when you need to break down the spring to clean it. Simply put the guide rod in it and squeeze it and remove the "L" shape tool or in my case the NDZ tool. Use this if you don't decide on the WC FW spring.
