Thinking of buying used Kimber 1911

Any advice folks?
New to .45 1911 platform..
But the Kimbers felt nicer in my hand than the equivalent priced Springfields..
Not sure if this model has the carbon steel or stainless barrel, ( its 4-5 years old )
Any advice MUCH appreciated!!!!

I have an Ultra SS TLE 45 and it has become my favorite carry gun. I’m pretty sure the barrel is SS but I would have to check. It was on sale at Osage County Guns. Check their prices on GunBroker, it’s cheaper than their site unless it’s on their specials. I usually see them for $799+ 30 shipping but I got mine on Black Friday for $699 + $30 shipping.

I have both a 5" Custom and a 3" Ultra SS TLE and have nothing but praise for both pistols.

Barring anything unforeseen, the gun itself should be fine. What are they asking for it?

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois George. I'd bet that the barrel is stainless steel. If you have access to the gun, get the serial number and give Kimbers customer service a call.

Customer Service
Toll-Free: (888) 243-4522
Hours: MĖF, 9:30 a.m.Ė7 p.m. Eastern

They will be able to tell you what year the gun was made and answer any questions like what the barrel is made of that you may have.

Welcome from southern cal. I prefer buying used for the difference in used vs, new prices. It would come down to condition and price for me. It would not hurt to offer less and see what the owner says. For that model I think you are right in wanting it for a little less.

Here in lovely SoCal, choices are somewhat er, "limited" ..
I feel maybe 750-800 would be better-I imagine the Meprolight sights will need replacing in 5 years as gun is a few years old.
The Meprolight sights on my Eclipse Pro II were replaced after about 12 years. They still had a glow but not as bright as my newer Kimberís. Kimber will tell you they are good for 10 years and from my experience thatís pretty accurate.

Not a bad price. If the guy will allow you to have a reputable gunsmith give it the once over, go for it!

Thinking of buying used Kimber 1911 Stainless TLE II

GO FOR IT!!! I purchased a brand new one about a month or so ago and probably put 150 - 200 rounds through it by now. It is a fantastic 1911! As it now stands, it is my "most accurate" 1911...and that's out of 7 1911s that I own...including a Series 70 Colt Gold Cup (a 1973 vintage)! I'm fast becoming a Kimber fan-boy!! If it is in good shape (not visually abused) ... you will be thrilled!!!!! Best of luck scooping it up before someone else get to it first!!!
