The Eclipse

It is nice but, expensive. It would be nice to have.
One more push to get the Eclipse and I'll just too have order one. I have looked at alot of photos and videos of that gun. It is a beautiful piece of art. I would like to hold and operate one in person before I order, but I don't have the patience to wait long enough to find one.
As much as I have looked at Kimbers, I have come to the conclusion that they are all the same quality gun. Full size anyway, with different finishes.
Is this what anyone else has come up with?
Or have I looked at them too much and read into it, to think that?

PUSH!

There's your one more push, I think it would be safe to say that Kimber 1911's are basically the same. The Ultra's use a double recoil spring but everything else is just like their big brothers. The difference will be in the frame (aluminum/steel), different finishes, sights and things like checkering.

That Eclipse looks nice. Take a look at some Sigs also.

There are a few differences, depending on how much time they spend in the custom shop, but the differences are pretty subtle.

The Eclipse is a good looking gun.

I have the 2 tone version of this and find it an excellent value.

As far as Kimbers go, a Custom II is a quality value, and it is what appeals to your eye.

IMO, Kimbers are more original 1911s, whereas Sigs are more of a light redesign (external extractor + mods to the original shape). But basically, with either Brand both give a lot of gun for the money, with proven reliability at an affordable price. YMMV.

BTW, that sig pictured, is $850 off GunBroker.com, notice the front grip checkering, mag well, and what can't be seen is the flat recoil spring, a fantastic trigger for a 1911 priced at under a grand, and a metal alloy mainspring housing (Kimbers are plastic). Oh, and Sigs come with 2 mags, whereas Kimbers only 1.

I have owned and shot the Eclipse Custom, great gun. If I compare it to My stainless or Desert warrior I would say you cant tell a difference in them. So it comes down to which one you like the looks of the best. I personally think the Kimber Stainless Custom is one of the best values Kimber has. I do believe the quality is the same, as you stated. What ever Kimber you get I think you will love it.

When my Stainless II showed up, I thought I was holding something amazing. Smooth feeling, tight components, weighty heft, and it has shown to be amazingly accurate and reliable. And it was only $700. I felt like I had robbed a bank and got away clean.

They have made more, since then. There is a possible cure to your mourning.
You buy a new gun every two weeks anyway.

I have the Eclipse Ultra 2 as my EDC. Depends what you want it for. If it's for carry it's heavy but has a advantage when it comes to recoil being all stainless. I love mine, worth every penny.
