Stainless Target II 45 ammo

Just purchased the above and was told to ONLY shoot High Quality ammo for first 200 rounds. Any Suggestions? I will be reloading once I get brass and bullets and dies. Have not had a 45 acp since I had a WWII NRA gun in the late 50's. I used to shoot LSWC in the old 45.

Bobs,I've been shooting Winchester White Box 230 gr.FMJ since I've had my Super Carry Custom HD.I have never experienced any problems with these.Due to the ongoing ammo shortage I recently bought 500 rds of 230 gr FMJ remanufactured ammo from Freedom Munitions.I haven't tried it out yet,but will do so this week and report back on it.

Ammo

Found a box of Winchester 230 gr white (100 rds) and took it to the range. No problems. The clip is hard to load, so I might look for a speed loader to help these old fingers. Saturday when I got it, the manual recommended taking it down for cleaning and lub. It was very difficult and stiff. Today, after the first 100 rds, it was slightly easier to clean. The sights were only slightly off, mainly the elevation. Have another box of Remington UMC 230s that I'll try next.
When I start reloading, I'll probably try LSWC either 185 or 200 gr. I bought it for target shooting. Any suggestions?

Well,I was out shooting today and primarily used Winchester White Box 230 gr.FMJ with no problems. Then I switched to Freedom Munitions 230 gr.FMJ remanufactured ammo.I shot two boxes (100 rds) with no problems..My Super Carry Custom HD 1911 ate the stuff up.This stuff is relatively inexpensive and usually in stock.Check out the website. The prices seem to go down a little bit every week or so.It's somewhere around $150.00 for 500 rds now I believe.

I've been shooting Freedom Munitions reloads when I can't find ammo locally. I've never had a problem with it and they will buy back your undamaged brass. 500 rounds are going for $200.59 as of today.

Thanks.I stand corrected on the price.I was thinking of 9mm ammo that I also bought from Freedom for my Sig.That was 115 gr FMJ that also fired flawlessly.

Hey bobs, I suggest not oiling your mags unless you meant the gun. They should remain dry to avoid collecting dust and sediment and its very important not to get anything wet on the ammo. My mags were hard to load as well for a short period. I also had to slam them into the mag well to get them to go in all the way. It's just a matter of breaking in the new, but anyway I sold the Kim Pro Tac mags on gun broker and got 5 new Wilson Combats all which have no problems right from the get go. How do you like the Super Carry Custom? Mines brand new and the slide is not as tight as I expected it should be. I can rock it side to side slightly. Does yours have any play at all? I might send it for repair.
