Stainless Target II - Adjustable Rear Sight Problem

Hello all,

I have a Kimber Stainless Target II (.45) and the retaining ring for the windage adjustment has popped off - not once, not twice, but three times.

I sent the slide back to the Kimber service department the first time and they promptly replaced the rear adjustable sight. When the retaining ring popped off the second time (after 250 rds), the service department informed they would replace the sight again. Of course, I complained that replacing the sight with another sight that obviously has a systemic problem wasn't going to provide a fix for the problem; nevertheless, I sent the slide in a second time.

Now, after another 350 rds, the retaining ring has popped of for the third time. The three options I'm considering are:

1. Send the sight back again (and again, ad infinitum) until they realize it needs to be fixed properly. Because of the inconvenience of this, I've almost eliminated this option.

2. Since I keep the sight adjusted for 25 yds, just throw some Loctite on the windage screw and be done with it.

3. Replace the Kimber sight with a third party adjustable sight such as Dawson Precison.

Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions!

Does distance matter with windage? I'm thinking not. If you can lock it down with the proper windage, then do so. You can always adjust the elevation at another time.

I question the need for adjustable sights on a pistol. Windage? What heavy winds would anybody try and compensate for?
