Polishing Stainless Slide Flats

I recently purchased a Stainless Raptor Pro. I notice on the 5" Raptor, the slide flats are polished, whereas they are left matte on the Pro.

Anyone try to polish the matte stainless on a Kimber? If so, how did you do it and how did it turn out? I've seen the superb work turned out by companies like Patriot, but I did a 686 years ago and it ended up looking decent. I'm considering giving it a shot.

i had my glock 19 slide mirror polished. i like it, BBQ gun, but i still CCW it. Crimson Trace laser grips, mild stipple and undercut done by me. I polish barrels very well, but i sent the slide to a guy in Florida who did the mirror polish in 2 days and i got the slide back the same week i sent it. it is a beauty, but a fingerprint magnet. carbon just wipes off, no issues with rusting due to the Tennifer being in the steel, and the black is just a coating.

THR-, I've done some Kimbers, and others, that turned out well. I always detail strip the slide first. Examine your progress often to make sure you're keeping the flats flat. When you'e achieved the level of finish you want, be sure to meticulously clean the slide inside and out, then do it again before reassembling. I've done a couple to a higher polish, but found I like the brushed look best. BTW, Roadkill, you did a nice, no excellent, job on your glock

I attached a photo of one of the Kimbers I did, a Target II.

Looks tremendous, Rock.

Doing the Micro Raptor first...I need to detail strip the slide as you suggested, but its coming along nicely.
