Rick's Happy Kimber Father's Day!

Sunday was Father's Day as we all know. What I did NOT know that I was to receive a sweet new Kimber from wifey for the event! Oh the joy when I opened the box, shaking with anticipation to reveal a nice new Kimber Aegis Elite Custom in 9mm replete with a Vortex Venom 6 MOA MRD (Mini Red Dot) sight.

I have an older Leupold-Gilmore red dot sight on a Ruger MK-I HB .22 auto, but this is an entirely new ball-game.

I like the light/dark grey color Kimber used for this model, and the G-10 grips really make it come alive.

Kimber has milled the slide to make the MRD fit nice 'n snug, almost like it was meant to be there. The three-dot irons are co-witnessed and can be used w/o the MRD and are suppressor-height as issued.

Although the 6 MOA dot appears small when seen with the naked eye, the camera captures quite a different image:

I want to get out to shoot the new toy, but out of town commitments trump that.....for now. I'll be headed out into the outback here as soon as I get back, and that can't come soon enough!

.......and it's got a round butt.

That's a sweet looking shooter Rick, I've got one in .45 on my very short list.

Almost Forgot...

Late Edit: I forgot to add that when I got her home, stripped her down, cleaned, lubed and reassembled, I found that this particular 1911 is by far the tightest fitting sample of the breed I've ever owned, Kimber or otherwise (and there's been quite a few in 52 years. ) I'm aware it's not a Wilson, LB or NH, but hey, we're in Kimberville, right? We'll see if "tight is right".

I'm really looking forward to my first range session.

Film at 11:00......

Looking forward to it Rick, my most accurate Kimbers have been the ones that were really tight and took additional beak in time.

Like I said when you texted me, I dig it. I really like the color combo. The Aegis line look is growing on me.

MRS. RICK is a keeper!!

Congratulations Rick, that’s a fine looking 1911. A 5” 9mm is a lot of fun for target shooting.

Very nice! I am looking forward to the range report! I am loving that round butt on my KHX also... It makes a bigger difference than I thought it would for concealment.

Thanks to all for the warm reception for the new Kimber family member. Looking forward to a full size, all steel range gun in 9mm for a stable-mate for my Clackamas Custom Classic in .45.

I should shamelessly add though, that my "hints" for wifey was the 2018 Kimber catalog laying about the house in "wife often traveled areas", opened to the appropriate page, the appropriate product circled boldly with a Sharpie.....pretty hard to misinterpret!

Are we spoiled to have mates such as this? I ask you!
