I purchased a new stainless TLE/RL a couple months ago. I've put around 700 rds though it. Cleaned and oiled it after each range session.
I recently noticed a number of small black spots on the sides of the hammer. I tried some Hopps #9 and a chamber brush, but they are still there. Is this some kind of corrosion? If so, I'm curious if it's is a common issue? Thanks.
If you have a NAPA nearby, get a can of Mothers Mag Wheel. Use a cloth with a bit of a "tooth" in it, like a red shop rag that has been washed 17 times.
You should see the decades' old deer guts I get out of knives from abuse.
I just wanted to say thanks to the The Tourist for his suggestion of the Mother's Mag Wheel metal cleaner. Less than $5 bucks at Walmart and my hammer looks like polished chrome after 10 minutes worth of work with an old dish towel. Thank you so much.
It will clean the haze off your plastic headlight lens as well.
