advice on Kimber 9MM Aegis Elite Pro

Folks --

I've sold a few safe queens and fallen in love with my Micro 9. I have an original full size Kimber Classic Stainless 45 (pre II or Custom) which I love.

I've been researching 4" barrel 9mm 1911s as cold weather carry pieces. I love the relieved (curved) rear mainspring area of some of what I've seen. I am currently obsessed with the looks and online reputation of the 9mm Aegis Elite Pro.

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about my choice? I lean to 9mm because I have a good carry 45 and the full size steel one I mentioned above, but I'm willing to change my mind.

I'd love honest input and advice on what I might like instead.

19 NineMM Kimber Models

Harold,
You are not confined to the Aegis model line if you desire a 9mm 1911. Keep in mind Kimber offers I think it is up to (19) other 1911 models that are available in 9mm or .45acp.
On the Kimber website you will find a 9mm 1911 Topic so you can view the 9mm's all together.
My choices would be Stainless Raptor Pro 9mm, CDP Pro 9mm, Sapphire Pro 9mm.
I bought a used stainless Ultra Carry in 9mm for 600 bucks awhile back, great little pistol.

You have a lot of choices.

I love my round butt Pro's so I'd say good choice. The only change I'd consider would be a .45 instead of 9mm but that a personal choice. The second would be getting the Aegis Elite Pro (OI) those optical sights are wicked fast and accurate.

I’ve been looking at several 9mm Pro 1911s lately and I think the Aegis Elite Pro is one of the best value guns for around $850. I know if I buy one it’s going to be a range gun not a carry gun but if I was going to carry I would prefer something with night sight like a Raptor or CDP. Another gun in the same price range I have looked at is the Springfield Range Officer Elite Champion. I haven’t shot either one or even seen either of them but they are in the price range of what I would want in a 9mm Pro 1911.

That's my second choice, so we're on the same page.

Chuck -- My reasoning is I have the S&W Shield 45 which is a more compact carry 45, and which I shoot quite well. The Pro model 9mm Kimber gives me more rounds and I'd still have ability to carry it, but in truth I'm considering both, and the Springfield Range Officer Elite Champion. The Sigs, I've decided are too clunky and the Ruger, which I've handled is nice but "looser" built (you can rattle it), which I don't like.

Yes we are, I wish I could see them in person because cost is about the same, both are quality companies and for me it now comes down to looks.

I've been looking at the Springfield range officer elite also, but would like to see one and handle it first. I have the emp and it's a great gun. I didn't think I would like the fiber optic front sights but they are pretty good on the range. I guess I'm used to my cdp with night sights.

I'm really curious for those that have them is if the bobtail (or round butt) makes them easier to conceal or more difficult to grip.

I like the look -- not sure about the value of it -- good or bad?
