Pro Carry II HD 38 Super

This is my new to me Kimber Pro Carry II HD in 38 Super. It is used but is in like new condition.

I disassembled it and lubed it. The pistol was dry. Pro Carry II disassembly is "interesting".

I took it on my small ranch range and fired Fiocchi FMJ and Sig JHPs. It was accurate and 100% reliable.

The sights line up quick and it hit where I pointed it every time. The trigger is great. It is a superb 1911 for EDC.

38 Super has been my holy grail caliber since I started reading gun mags as kid. It is more than 9mm and less than 45 ACP.

My EDC holster is a DeSantis OWB Thumb Break Scabbard.

It meets all of my needs and wants. It is now my main EDC pistol.

I have the same gun and caliber for my EDC. I’m with you, the 38 Super is an under-rated caliber. I had the Kimber Custom Shop checker the front strap and I added a mag well. You will enjoy this gun.

I have one as well, and it is a terrific pistol. I'm glad that there is more SD ammo available in 38 Super these days.

I think I am due to take it to the range -- Thanks!

One other recommendation, get the Wilson Combat Flat Wire spring kit (spring and rod). You will get MUCH longer recoil spring life and performance. I've put these on all my 1911's.

It does look NIB. I have never owned a .38super.

When I disassembled it, there was essentially no wear. It was a find.

Despite the fact it came from Cabela's in Idaho (I'm in Texas), I got the best deal that I could find. These seem to be somewhat rare and/or owners are hanging onto them.

I agree that there is more 38 Super defense ammo around.

Fine looking pistol Aggie, congratulations. Sounds like you've found a gun that hasn't even been broken in, things should only get smoother.
Remember to post pics with the range reports...
As has been mentioned check out the Wilson Combat flat wire recoil kit. It'll make field stripping much easier give you a vastly longer lifespan on the spring. Enjoy the new shooter :-)

Thumbs up

Aggie, that is a nice one! I've been a fan of the cartridge for a very long time, and have had several pistols chambered for the cartridge. Mostly Colts, but an STI and couple Kimbers too. My 38S Kimbers were a Target II, and currently an Eclipse Target. Both shared the characteristic of being reliable with any factory or reloaded ammo I used, as did my STI. Sounds like your Pro Carry shares this essential characteristic.
