Clackamas Classic Custom

Need some assistance from some of you that are more knowledgeable in the older Kimbers. I've found a Classic Custom with the Clackamas roll mark. The seller is checking to see if he has the original box and any paperwork. I've found where the serial numbers began @ 001001 and this one is 0011xx.

The question I have is around the rear sight. I am pretty certain from looking at pics I can find online, that they came with fixed rear sights. This one has an adjustable sight which would mean it has been modified from original. That won't be a deal breaker for me, but will give me some talking points about value.

Thanks in advance for any info some of you might be able to provide.

My Classic Custom isn't a Clackamas but an early Yonkers that is 100% original and it has a fixed low profile rear sight. I've been looking for a Clackamas 1911 for a couple of years now, I've missed 2 of them in great condition that went in the $700.00 range. Unfortunately Kimber lost all their Clackamas records so they're not much help when it comes to asking about those guns.

You have to remember that the only thing different about a Clackamas 1911 vs a Yonker 1911 is that one says "Clackamas" on the slide, but both were made in the Yonkers plant.

it still would be cool to have one as long as you don't have to overpay.

I don't know what his asking price was but I don't think real world street price is as high or the pistols as "collectible" as some might think.
I've never seen a "Clack" in person. Seems the people that do own them hang onto them.

I have seen and held 2 Clackamas Classic Customs and other then the word "Clackamas" on the slide they are identical to my "Yonkers" Classic Custom.

The price on the one I was trying to buy $950. He started out listing it for $1250 and kept going down till it got into my price range radar....(but he ended up backing out).

From the little bit of research I did, It appears the pricing is from $800 - $1100-ish

I got my Clack on Gunbroker a couple years ago for $700ish.

Anything that has the Kimber logo seems to be less sought after than before, but the Clackamas 1911ís donít seem to come up for sale often.

Iíve got a Clack, a Yonkers Classic Custom Gold Match, and 3 Series IIís.

I honestly canít say one is better than the other functionally. All superb.

I will say the bluing on my old Classic Gold Match is far better than the bluing on the new Gold Match at the local gun shop.

The pistol I just went to look at was a Yonkers stamped from 1998 - Very nice but I passed on it - Was a Classic Custom - $750 with extra two sets of G-10 grips
