Ruined range day

Range days are my stress relief but today's trip added to it.

The customer service line was already closed by the time I got home, but Kimber is getting a call from me in the morning. It sucks to have a six week old pistol go down.

I've never taken mine apart. Is it supposed to be welded?

Lots of guys complain about feeding problems or a cosmetic ding by the ejection port. That stuff can be remedied quite easy.

But when internal parts break and start flying around, that can be serious. I mentioned last week that I had a new Bren Ten, I fired a round, the slide came back, sheared off the hammer which lightly cut my cheek. I always wear shooting glasses, but I heard from Harlene that Dornaus took that pistol apart right down to the set screws.

Not to worry you, but I'd send the pistol back and find out why the part became "parts."

Did it fail on the line or after stripping it down? Just curious!

That assembly is captured using red loctite.
If you still have the rod you can get the parts squeaky clean then use it on the threads and be GTG.
Otherwise Kimber will send you a new one if they have them in stock-no real reason to send it in.

The pistol will still function with a rod launch in my experiences.

Send it in to Yonkers and let them do a complete inspection; hell, the bloom's not even off the rose yet.

Roger that. I turned into a training opportunity though. I pulled the J frame Smith and double tapped the target.
