.380 ACP conversion kit, just for me.

I'm still carrying my UC2 and it's still loaded with either Federal Guard Dogs or Hornady Critical Defense, both in .45 ACP.

And as you know, if I'm in danger, it's usually among lots of people.

I remember a friend of mine who got back from Gunsite Raven, where he was taught that if he gets into an exchange among a crowd, he should kneel and shoot "up" at the attacker. If he hits the guy, hooray. If he misses or perforates the attacker the bullet goes harmlessly into the ceiling.

Well, I had an idea. I have a conversion kit in 22LR, so Kimber knows how to built them. I know that Kimber makes a pistol in .380 ACP, so I know they make them, too.

I'd like Yonkers to make me a UC2 compact conversion kit in .380 ACP. If I'm in the woods around wild dogs, bears or wolverines, I have .45 ACPs. If I go to the mall and the fight is within arm's reach, a few .380 ACPs from Hornady in the center mass should solve the problem--and no innocent person gets hurt.

So, all you supervisors in Yonkers, please make me a compact .380 ACP barrel to fit my UC2. If it fits the slide I have, I'll just need the barrel--and a fistful of magazines...

It's called a Kimber Micro backup in the front pocket. Problem solved.

Well... If you believe you're a danger to innocent bystanders with a 45ACP in your hands, they won't be safe with a .380ACP in your hands.

That said, if you'd prefer to carry a .380 for whatever reason, I very much recommend one of these for consideration. I drop this in my pants pocket when I get dressed in the morning and it stays there till bedtime. If'n I need it it'll be there. With all due respect to Kimber, they've never made a more reliable .380 than this little $169 Ruger. And even in the hands of a half blind fat old man... more than adequate to deliver where needed at 7yds

Oh, I have a .380 ACP, a SIG P238. Great pistol, never had a stoppage.

I just like fuller size pistols. It's what I've carried since the mid-1980s, and I carry smaller firearms, like the P238 and the SW 360PD, when it's a must.

If I millionaire comes to my home and wants the UC2, lots of premium magazines, a bezillion .45ACP rounds and a Bianchi holster, I'll walk away.

Then I'll get Terry Tussey to put a .380 ACP barrel in light-weight Commander.

If you want a fuller size .380 1911 get a Browning, or pay a gunsmith a lot of money to convert your UC2. The odds are California will break off and fall in the ocean before Kimber makes a conversion kit.

Interesting idea. An Ultra in a .380 would feel almost like dry firing. Barsto makes barrels for the Kimber Ultras, and they do custom work. Maybe they'll poke a .380 hole through one if you ask nicely.

My .380 holds 8 rounds and fits in the palm of my hand with room to spare. It's not all spiffy like a Kimber, but I can count on it to make noise with every pull of the trigger.

The reason I mentioned Terry Tussey is that he made a complete set of conversion kits for a client. He had a .45 ACP, a 9x19'' and a .40 SW as I remember. The other ones escape me, I think there was a .38 Super in the mix, as well.

I actually thought of just putting the .22LR conversion kit on the UC2 when I went to the mall. I have four magazines and I bought good HV hollowpoint .22LRs.

There are other reasons, like to carry the .380 I have to take the .45 holster off my belt. To that, the triggers are always different. If I had one receiver and the same holster in a mid-size caliber, I could change it in to anything I wanted in minutes.
