Recoil Spring Guide Rod Stuck?

So, every time I field strip my gun (Aegis Elite Pro) the recoil spring guide rod/spring/plug is so tight in the slide that I need a mallet to tap it out. Even my husband with his bear paws has a hard time getting it out, and sometimes he needs to use a mallet, too. This is with the takedown tool being used. I have not tried to get the gun apart without the takedown tool.

This doesn't seem normal to me and I wonder if this might cause issues with the gun in the long term? Is this something that just needs to wear in or should I take some sandpaper to the slide where the thing is getting hung up?

Anyone else had or have this issue?

TIA!

Yes but with a different model. I understand the polishing etc but decided to send it back - the gun was replaced.

I wouldn't use sandpaper on anything! You could "void the warranty"?

My best suggestion would be to get a Wilson Combat flat wire recoil assembly (about $50.00). The kit comes with a new plug, guide rod and spring and allows for tool free takedown.
Also, Kimber suggests a 1000 round change interval on their PRO sized pistols :-(
The flat wire spring is supposed to go for 10x that :-)

Otherwise I think with some CPL treatments and several hundred rounds things will get broken in.

I’d just call customer service Monday morning. They’ll probably say send it in and If it under warranty they should cover shipping. They’re really good and fast to deal with problems.
