New Custom II feedramp issue

Picked up one of the new “Shot Show Special” 10mm from the lgs last week. It and the Ultra went to the range. 1st round didn’t even get 1/4” into the chamber after I hit the slide release. Rather annoyed, so I dropped a couple directly in the tube just to get some down range. Bad form I know....anyway get home and see there is zero feedramp radius into chamber, like dead sharp, breech needs polished, chamber & ramp need polished....like they missed a few steps at the factory. Anyone else have this issue?
Not a big deal, half tempted to take care of this myself. Just wondering if this is status quo now. My 45 ultra ran 225 trunc cone and 165 jhp without issue, but it’s a few years older.

Yeah... no.

Well... maybe. Different manufacturers call it different things. I think the definitive opinion on the matter is Taran Butler's. He says that whichever way you want to run your gun, that's fine. But then he's also of the opinion that under high-speed, high-stress reloads, using the slide-release can be better.

Update: took the slide & bbl to work, radiused the ramp into chamber, polished all appropriate surfaces including breech, chamber, ramp, & bottom of extractor. 200gr tc hornady, 155gr jhp Federal, and my handloaded 175 lead semi wadcutters all now feed from a mag...although the Federals still hic-cup while feeding. The breech face had some serious tool marks, as well as a .003” step around the face on the non extractor side of breech face.

The bad news: it took what looks like a .120” radius at the end of the ramp the get those Federals to feed. Not what I wanted to do to a fully supported chamber.

No, sling shoting the slide did not help....at all. It did put a heavier dent on my hollow point, and a nice gouge on my brass, and made it much more difficult to clear it. The extractor was gouging the rim as brass was being scraped across the end of the feed ramp while the bullets hit the top of the chamber and stopped.

Figured as much. Sure they wouldn’t be happy with me giving it a trigger job either.
Worth it not to have to deal with waiting on CS + shipping... Besides, its a 1911... ain’t that hard to work on, or expensive.
