Question for the Ultra Owners

When it gets to be time for a new recoil spring, what is the consensus, replace the outer spring only, or the complete assembly? Big difference in the cost....

TIA

Lon

They recommend just changing the outer spring the first time, the second change is the entire assembly, the third time is the outer spring etc, etc.
Teufelhunde and Bigdog like this.

Interesting, great information Chuck. I didn't know that, guess I should read more.

I have to check if I have any spare Ultra springs. I usually stock up on springs. All my 1911s have WC Flat Wire so I don’t give much thought to changing recoil springs anymore.

I have one kit for 45 Ultra and one for 9mm Ultra and may have some single 9mm springs but don't think I have any singles for .45.
