Raptor II Custom factory issue

Went to the range yesterday morning with the Raptor; wanted to shoot up some 230 gr. ball mil-surp ammo to hit the 500 rds. break-in.

It appears that the plunger tube was not properly staked, as it came loose and wedged itself between the slide stop and thumb safety. Bummer!

Spoke with Nathan at Kimber CS; got my RMA and just printed off my UPS label. We basically decided that we'll let the boys at Yonkers do the job. The weapon has a total of 402 rds. put through.

Don't know if you can see the problem from these phone photos.

I'm pretty sure they'll make it right. Nathan expected a couple weeks turnaround.

With the Solo discontinued I’m sure they have a better turn around time.

Quick turnaround. Just got it from UPS.

Kimber stated they replaced the plunger tube, test fired with 3 mags Fed. 230 gr FMJ and 1 mag Fed. 230 gr. Hydra Shok. And replaced the recoil spring (no idea why).

Now for some dry weather to get to the range.

Glad to hear that Kimber customer service got you fixed up. Of all of the 1911 pistols that I have owned, I only had this happen to one of them, a Springfield Armory. I had owned mine probably 5 years, and I took it to a local gunsmith to have it re-staked.
