My second Kimber!

I recently turned 60 and wanted to treat myself. I have owned a few lower priced 1911's and this time wanted to experience a quality 1911 so I picked up a Stainless Pro Raptor II. Plan to take it out tomorrow and start its break-in!

I did notice something while giving it a good cleaning and lube. The base of the backstrap has an imperfection, is this a crack or mold line?

That part is plastic, I believe, so I think it is a mold mark, . Running your fingernail over the part you think is cracked would give you more info than I can get from the picture.

BigDog is correct main spring housing is made of plastic. I've never seen one look like that? I've never had a problem with any of my plastic MSH. Some people feel the need to replace them, personal choice.

Raptor model line is one of my favorites.

For my 60th I bought the Kimber Gold Combat Limited Edition.
Sporting real Ivory grips in this pic, came with Black Ball Mill.

The guys are right, that's a mold mark on the bottom of the main spring housing. It won't effect anything but the looks of the gun. Give Kimbers customer service a call and they will replace it for you.

Must be how they are producing them as mine looks exactly the same, which I bought new two weeks ago.

Congrats and good luck. I joined the club last year.

Just checked my CDP II Pro, which is my EDC and it has the same mark in the same place. It's the mold. 👍

My Pro Carry is 2017 vintage and looks just like that too. I think we're good!

A lot of guys despise the plastic MSH but it looks fine to me and saves a wee bit of weight. Other manufacturers use them too, although Kimber is the one that seems to take heat for it. Haters gonna hate.

This is a great forum, none of that here.
