9 mm ammo. I know but read on.

I received my bulk order of 9 mm from LAX ammo just now and looking at them Iím perplexed. Iíve seen all the videos and read all the studies about 9 vs 45 but these round are much smaller than I expected. My mind says they canít possibly be as effective as a 45 , theyíre even smaller than my 38 special rounds. Iím leery of them at the moment.
Oh well.

9mm is identical diameter to .38.

This study of actual shootings might help ease concerns.

So, am I correct in assuming that the best personal defense weapon and I can carry from my arsenal is my 22 caliber Colt/Walther/Umarex/Mattel/Hasbro poser M4?

Don't fret, Skip. After a lifetime of carrying my .45, loading for it for decades, I had the same impression when the 9mm entered my life about five years ago.

Give your .45 a respite, shoot the crap out of your new nine and get to know it intimately, and after a few hundred rounds downrange, the nine will probably just feel comfortable, and offer a sort of benign shooting experience. It's still a 1911, just a tad softer shooting, and cheaper to shoot to boot. (no rhyme intended....)

The lack of .45 recoil can actually be a positive thing!

Thanks everyone. I never have picked up a Glock until last Sunday when I picked up my Kimber ultra In 9 mm. Never seen a 9mm round until today. I’m not sure about it. Half the size of a 45 and much smaller than a 38.
Thanks Rick I’m going to take it to my gunsmith and have it looked at to make sure it’s safe and I’m going to have some trigger work done on it. Way too much “ take up” and when the trigger hits the sear it starts to stack up and has a heavy break, to me. I could leave it as it is and it would be fine but I’m picky.
