Picked up the Rapide today

Pretty excited I’ve wanted this gun since I saw it about 8 months ago. I know it doesn’t seem to popular with some kimber fans but that’s ok because I bought it for me. Didn’t have time to shoot it yet but will report back when I do.

That Rapide looks pretty good. I’ve never actually seen one before. Enjoy it.

Why do you say it doesn't seem too popular with Kimber fans?

IIRC, it took some flack in pre-release over the gold barrel. I don't, well, mind it, but I wouldn't pay more for it. The ported slide and factory magwell on the other hand...

Hey Kimber's "bling" on high quality 1911's is its trademark. I wouldn't buy it, but only Kimber will tell us if it's unpopular (via dropping it from the line-up).

From what I've read the gold barrel darkens up after firing X amount of rounds. Don't know how many. I like your new pistol. Enjoy.

Congrats! I've never seen one in person, not my cup of tea but like you said it only matters that you like it.
