Kimber Arctic? Available, but not on the Kimber Website

Apparently these are available in 4 versions, one of them being a 9mm. I just bought one in .45ACP on Gunbroker. Not a peep about them on the Kimber site. If you have not seen or heard, they are a full size 5" 1911 on a lightweight frame. Economy pricing.

Yeah I am lusting for one. The Arctic is my favorite. I am not sure why Kimber is not mentioning them...but they are listed all over at large retailers. My LGS has some on order but nada so far.

Pics!!!

There was a thread on them here? I think a couple weeks ago.

UPDATE:

I stopped by the LGS again and he had just gotten one in. An Arctic in 45 ACP. Very nice. The feel of a full size 1911 that isn't so heavy is sweet. I want one in 9mm hoping to later convert to 38 Super, so I asked him about special ordering one for me. He wasn't sure so he said he'd check.

He calls me later with more information. He says he thinks he can still get one but Kimber says these are a limited run and they won't be making them much longer.

That explains the lack of advertising, not being on the website or in the new for 2020 release.

All I can guess is they had an overage of full size alloy frames and wanted to clear them out. The only other way I know of to get a full size lightweight Kimber is to get a CDP and one of those is around 400 bucks more.

If you want one of these grab one while you can.

I have a question: So what is the actual empty weight in ounces of this new Arctic "Lightweight" that has everyone excited?

I would think it would need to be in the 31oz range to be truly considered lightweight for a full size 1911, like a CDP Custom, but I understand the appeal of the Arctic at half the normal price.

Didn't they also offer a
Stainless Lightweight with Brown checkered wood grips last year, same look as this years Black checkered grips just in brown and it didn't have the name "Arctic." I think last years Brown grip model had maybe better rear sight but did cost a little more?

I don't remember the one you are talking about 2sharp. These are all right around 600. The listed weight is indeed 31 oz. I held one today for the first time and it's not overweight, surprisingly light in the hand. Fiber optic front and dot rear. Nice and tight like you'd expect from Kimber.

And the other thing, these are 70 series guns not Series II like most Kimbers. I personally don't care for the Schwartz, bypassed it on my Pro Carry.
