1st TmKimber/1911: HELP ME OUT PLZ!!!

I am a diehard Glock guy but recently traded a Beretta 96 Vertec Inox for a Compensated Kimber Custom II... Therefore, and in the famous words of Jasmine from Alladin, “IT’S A WHOLEEE NEWWWW WORLLDDDD!!!” (You’re welcome 90’s babies )

I am just wanting to learn what is “cool” and “uncool” in the world of Kimber/1911...

With that being said... Judge my 1911 please. I got the gun exactly as it is in the pictures...

Is anything tacky?

Is it Margot Robbie and Jennifer Aniston on top of each other [email protected]$$ naked in the form of a handgun???

Is it just “meh...”

Honest opinions only please. No feelings will be hurt. lol. I want to make it into the second option above but need help with what is the right thing to do with a Kimber 1911 and what is just plain “Awww hellllll nawwww.....” lol

Thanks in advance!!

I'm guessing you acquired it because you liked it the way it is. But since you asked...

The silver grips look cheesy. No need for a comp other than race guns.

I acquired bc it is worth more than what I traded for it abs bc of what I have in it. Thanks for your input. Should I order factory grips?

Nothing special about factory grips. There are endless choices for 1911s. Some guys prefer wood in any number of grain, designs and colors. Some prefer G10 in endless designs. Some like smooth ivory. Others like rubber grips, or plastic laser grips... or or or. I chose cheap Magpul polymer for my Kimber Pro because of the thumb cut and grip surface that works well, and I like the looks. I'm sure some guys puke at the mere sight... personal preference. That said, bright silver painted grips... “Awww hellllll nawwww.....”

If it was me, I'd slap on some grips that matched the slide.

How does it shoot? You are going to shoot it right? The silver grips are kind of offensive but if you like them and they work, leave them.

In my opinion and you did ask for it, a full custom piece, like that, needs complimentary grips. When it comes to custom grips, for me, if they ain't wood, they ain't good.
That said, you could get by with some simple checkered ebony, like these. https://www.eaglegrips.com/colt-1911...red-grips.html

But real custom, like these, would look better. https://www.woodcaliber.com/store/p2...oon_Ebony.html

maybe these: https://www.woodcaliber.com/store/p3...y%2FHolly.html

Or what ever you choose. This company, and many others, will work with you to get you the perfect grips, for you. https://www.woodcaliber.com/1911-grips.html

I’m not a big fan of the silver grips. I have been pondering on some black grips with silver accents of some sort

It is pure butter my friend... I like the gun in general so much that it has created a serious dilemma for me...

A: Keep my babygirl, Gen 4 G19 and move the Kimber...
OR
B: Keep the Kimber and move the G19.....

Everything that I don't like about your Custom can be changed very easily. Like my buddy Phil the grips have to GO. The sky is the limit for replacement grips. The compensator looks ok IMO but is not needed on your full size Kimber so it also would need to go.
Clean it, lube it, shoot it like you stole it.
It is a good foundation, now make it YOURS!
