Kimber Pro Carry II Added

Went to a LGS this morning and looked in the 1911 display case. Lot's of eye candy, but I noticed a couple of Commander-sized pistols, a Colt LWT Commander, and a Kimber Pro Carry II. Bought the Kimber. Cleaned it and took it to the LGS indoor range. Ran 100+ rounds through it (Rem/UMC and Hornady 124 gr HP), and everything ran perfectly. No FTF's, etc. Used Kimber and Wilson mags and both ran very nicely. Hits precisely to point of aim @ 15 yds, and the recoil is very mild. As with any LWT "Commander", recoil becomes more noticeable after 100 rounds, but not bad. I already own a Pro Carry II in .45 Auto, and I decided it just couldn't be alone!

Fit and finish are great. No burrs, etc. Not a big fan of the grips, so they'll get replaced. Overall a nice pistol.

Noticed this one's not on the Kimber site, or catalogue for 2015, so this must be a "special" run. All black. I saw this pistol on Bud's web site, but out of stock.

Merry Christmas!!

Great gun, I've got a Pro CarryII. Yours wasn't a special run, they've been discontinued. Why? Who knows for sure, but probably to make room for new models.

Great buy! As you already know the Pro size is a nice shooter.

That gun looks great in all black. Good luck with it. It's a shame to see it discontinued.

Congratulations on the new Pro Carry II, Pro size guns are my favorite.

Nice, but I'm always surprised people with try HP without a full break-in period of 500-700 rounds of FMJ, just saying

Since all of my Kimbers have been an edc at one time or another I broke them in with a mixture of HP & FMJ ammo...

My thinking is if I'm going to edc with HP, ya have to know which brand your gun likes and doesn't...

During the break-in, I always mix FMJ and HP. I've always figured that at some point during break-in I should get a failure, or two. However, my other Kimber, a Pro Carry II, in .45 Auto, has run over 1500 rounds of FMJ and HP, including lead 230's, without a hitch.

The only pistol in the 1911 category I've ever had problems with, was a Colt Defender in 9mm. It had consistent FTF's with self-defense ammo. It's long gone.
