New custom ll

Picked up a NIB custom ll today.wow! What a tough slide! Do these things loosen up with use or do I need to look for a different spring? I love this gun but it's gonna have to ease up a bit . It won't be shot a whole lot so if it takes a lot of use to become easier maybe a different spring is best. What do you all recommend? Also this is my first post as a new member and I'm glad to be here!

Welcome to the forum from The Lou...

The springs will loosen up as you break it in as well as your mag spring..

Just remember to clean-lube before your first range session...

Gutterman,

Welcome from Northern Illinois. Yes, the springs, and overall fit will loosen up thru the breakin period. As mentioned, a good cleaning and oil will get you started.

Welcome to the forum from Southern California! My recoil spring in my full size Raptor seemed stiff before I shot it, after just over 200 rds it seems to feel better or I am getting stronger. The odds are the spring is has gotten a little easier!

Welcome from Northeast, Pa. Congratulations on your new gun. My new full size Raptor is very tight compared to my older Eclipse pro. I would do what everyone else said and shoot the hell out of it.

My new Custom CDP II took about 200 rounds before I could definitely feel it loosing up. Seemed stiff as hell out of the box and had me a bit concerned until I got it out to the range. Go have a shoot, clean, lube, repeat; it will feel much better after you do!

Welcome from Pittsburgh. I agree with everyone, it will feel better after a range session. Maybe bring some gun lube to use at the range too, and use some better clean ammo. After a few hundred rounds, it will amaze you how it runs and feels.

I haven't shot mine enough yet for break in either. I bought one of the Larry Vicker's model ETM mags and those springs are stiff too, I've been keeping it fully loaded and unload often til I get a chance to shoot with it and I can tell it is getting smoother already. Congratulations on your new purchase!

Gutterman, welcome to the site from Tennessee! Like others have stated pistol should get better with time firing.
