Kimber Ultra 45 Questions

I am thinking about buying my first 45 cal. I know I want a Kimber.
I see a lot of different models in 45 I think I would like one of the ultras with night sights and I want this for carry. I would appreciate
any feedback on which model to choose. I have a Solo DC and a Micro Raptor plus a few others that are not Kimber.

My personal favorite Ultra Kimber is the Ultra Tactical II. It has everything you could want in a carry gun. Front and rear strap checkering, magwell, night sights and an ambidextrous safety.

Chuck, I've been looking at that particular one too. The website shows the dimensions but there aren't a lot of pictures out there that show scale...how easy is this to conceal in an IWB holster under just an untucked shirt?

Nice looking piece does it shoot well and how is the recoil?

My EDC is a Super Carry Ultra HD. I love that little gun. Shoots perfectly (wish the shooter did.) I love the feel of the all steel gun, especially in something the size of an Ultra. Feels very solid and stable in you hand. The extra weight of the steel frame vs aluminum frame is not a big deal for me, and I'm not a large guy (5'8" 175#) It is a dream to shoot. Seriously, don't let the small size intimidate you because it is a .45. It is really fun.

If I were to buy another/different Ultra, I'd seriously look at the Stainless Ultra Raptor, even if the frame is aluminum.

I carry it in a Wright Leather Works Predator pancake holster. When I first started carrying I used a IWB holster because I was so self conscious about carrying a gun but it didn't take long to get over that. The gun conceals well under a T-shirt I've never had a problem with printing or having it exposed.

As for accuracy... I always thought that the shorter the barrel the less accurate the gun would be WRONG! This gun is capable of shooting groups much tighter then I am capable of shooting.

Recoil is a personal thing, I don't find much difference in shooting my 3", 4" or 5" .45 1911's.

The best I could do to address scale isn't very good but here's the Ultra Tactical next to my 4" Classic Carry Pro with their holsters.

Thanks Chuck. Im thinking this will be my next Kimber and first real 1911. They are pricey but patience will win the day.

I found mine on Gunsamerica for under $1000.00, it was an exceptional deal but you should be able to find the gun for around $1100.00.
