I carry a spare gun and spare magazines.
I do not carry spare magazines for the spare gun.
There's probably a hole in the logic that led me here, but I have to draw the line somewhere.

When I was a cop I carried a Smith 1076 with two spares on my belt and 5 more in my briefcase in the car. Too old for all that weight these days so I carry my Micro 9 with a 7 round in the pistol and an 8 round in a mag pouch on the off side. I have 2 more 7 rounders in the truck. Spare mags on my body are not for extra rounds they are in case of a failure with the one in the pistol.
For those interested I just bought 2 factory 8 rounders for my Micro 9. Kimber wanted $36.95 each with shipping extra. Bought them from eBay for $21.00 each with free shipping.

I carry many extra mags, as large as I can find. Pistol in one vest pocket, and the other has maybe, six 21 rounders, some in pockets, some on belt. I was in Olongapo City a few times, which was like Dodge City, KS, as a cow town. Back here, I was not allowed to carry, while working, and I visited nasty areas in Philadelphia, Allentown, Chicago, Portsmouth, and Norfolk, VA, plus more. With 28 gangs in a city 10 miles from here, I trust to the Spirit World for direction. The brave ones, usually, travel in packs, so I carry many rounds. Some of the gun fights last for three days, and only the innocent get hurt. As I prepared to go to Vietnam as an officer, I talked to many who had been there, and I gaged that I would carry 480 rounds. However, I got into the area, without having to pound bush. The gangsters use the state range, and some are not safety conscious, while partaking of the paper. One young, teeny bopper girl (15, or 16 yoa), shot 6 rounds, and each recoil had her hands higher and higher until the pistol was above the top of her head, at arms length (barrel at a 45 degree up angle). Good thing we were on top of the mountain, but there are hiking trails, and fire trails where the rounds landed.

Motormac- You should try to join a private range. There are a few that have very strict safety enforced that are a pleasure to shoot and have very nice people belonging to them. There is a yearly membership but if you use it a couple a times it pays for itself. The one I belong to is open sun rise to sun set every day except Sunday which after 12 because there is a church nearby.

427malibu, I moved from a good range, that is now over 100 miles from my location. I will go to the Silver Ridge breakfast tomorrow morning to see if they are accepting new members. I am not a hunter, as my Father did not hunt for sport, it was a chore to find food for the table on the farm. I know some of the members, so I hope I will be able to join. They hatch their own pheasants, and they have many acres of wooded mountain top. It's a great view of the convergence of the Black Creek, where it enters the Lehigh River, maybe, a 500' elevation change.

No but I did carry an extra Kimber today. Ultra Carry II on the belt and Solo in the pocket. You never know what kind of threats you might run into while grocery shopping, know what I mean?

Plus I didn't want to leave the solo in the car.

Indeed. For me, half of carrying everywhere is less about it seeming prudent to have it on me than it is about it seeming prudent to not leave it somewhere unattended.
