IWB Holster Clip Question

I've been shooting rifles and shotguns most of my life. Only in the past few years have I gotten interested in pistols. My wife and I just received our Texas LTC last week.

In my research for tucakable IWB holsters the thing that I've noticed is that most all of them (if not all) come with black belt clips (polymer or metal).

I would think that if you are wearing a brown belt and have a tuckable iwb holster that those black clips stand out like a sore thumb.

I've ordered a black and a brown gun belt so I'm covered either way. Am I over thinking this?

Your thoughts and comments please!

I guess it all depends on a person's fashion sense, but I've used the Slimline belt clips (only come in black) with either my black or brown belts. Most clips seem to be black, but brown ones are available (Spring steel metal gun belt holster clip. Made in USA). Unless you want to change the clips on your holster each time you change your belt color (not a "fun" job in many cases), I think you might be over thinking it. Take a look at the Slimline clips to see if they minimize the black/brown contrast enough to satisfy you. I get mine at Tucker Leather in TX: Belt Clips - TuckerGunLeather.com Let us know what you decide.

I don't have IWB holsters but I agree, the belt, holster and boots all have to match/flow with each other! Your going to have to go with a custom holster maker.

I'd say you're overthinking it. Unless you are wearing a tan belt, like a natural vegetable tanned leather, it's not going to be too noticeable. Medium to dark brown and most people won't notice it at all. They aren't looking at your belt line. If you are wearing a shirt tucked in that is still loose enough to hide a gun inside it, it will blouse a bit and cover your belt some as well. When I first started carrying, I was so worried about whether people could see or would notice. Then I realized my wife didn't even remember, none of my family knew, and my gun friends couldn't tell when I asked them for feedback. I carry 75% of the time OWB with an untucked shirt and occasionally the holster is visible, but people never take a second look. All of that to say, I don't think black clips are going to stand out on a brown belt unless someone knows what to look for and what they are looking at, in which case they probably are carrying concealed as well.

LOL....I couldn't care less about the "fashion" angle of this....

My question was regarding the ability to remain "concealed".

At the moment the only belt I have heavy enough to even think about using as a gun belt is natural leather color. Let me tell you those black clips are like flashing neon lights.....he's carrying......he's carrying....

So I guess I'll wait until my 2 gun belts arrive, assess the situation and then go from there.

Thanks for the comments.

Wait, even with a IWB holster don't you need to utilize some type of cover garment? If they can see the clips can't they also see the grip and hammer of the pistol?

I've been carrying concealed for a long time. Trust me, you could walk around carrying a bazooka under your shirt and no one will notice. Don't sweat the color of the clips on your holster.

No. The shirt tucks in between the clips and the holster.
