Ultra Sized 1911 Not Suitable as EDC?

I have been reading on another forum where an ultra sized 1911 (from any manufacturer) is unsuitable as an EDC because 1911's of that size have inherent issues that make it unreliable. What are you Kimber experts' opinions on such things?

What specifically are these inherent issues they claim ultra size 1911's have that make them unreliable for EDC?

I have an Ultra CDP II, granted it's only got 600 trouble free rounds through it and I haven't put it in carry rotation yet but I don't see why it shouldn't be used as a EDC gun.

I have to wonder where they get their facts. I have always used an ultra sized 1911 .45. I only sold my CDPII so I could buy a CDPII +. I put 3-4,000 rounds thru my first CDPII without a single hiccup. My new one? Maybe 400 rounds flawless performance. So although I can't speak for others my results differ.

Well I may not be an "expert". However, all three models of Kimber Ultra's that I own plus a pretty old Detonics Combat Master which also has a 3" barrel goes bang on every trigger pull. Been carrying the CDPII or the Detonics for a while. Please enlighten us about the problems we are supposed to be having.

If my girlfriend can carry an Ultra TLE that weighs 30oz loaded and goes boom everytime she pulls the trigger...
What's wrong with that???

Oh, I see "the big sitt" wants someone to recommend a reliable Ultra/Compact size pistol that is UNDER $600.00. Not gonna happen. I suggest that you will have to increase your budget to a minimum of $800.00 to $1,000.00. Even some of the entry level full size 1911's that are around $600.00 or so may not be reliable without some work. Bottom line Colt, Sig, several others make good compact guns but they will be more than $600.00.
