Tips for a Shoulder Holster

A buddy just gave me a Bianchi shoulder holster, after a few attempts to adjust, I'm not sure that it'll work out for as it doesn't seem all that comfortable.

If your buddy liked the holster, he'd be wearing it. Maybe the guy you give it to will like it.

I got one a couple of years ago thinking I would like to use it in cold weather when wearing a jacket. It turned out it was more trouble than it was worth. Easier to just grab my waist holster and run out the door. Wish I had my money back.

I spend a lot of time out in the Orygun outback, always with a rifle in my hands. I find my Galco Miami Classic shoulder rig to be a great way to carry one of my 1911's and have it completely out of the way. Two loaded mags carried on the off-side balances the rig somewhat, and gives me a great reload capability (never needed more than 8, but hey, can't hurt to have more than needed, right?)

If I carry a handgun on my belt, it interferes with carrying the rifle slung on my shoulder, as the rifle is always clunking against the pistol. With a shoulder rig, the pistol is always dry and out of the way from sagebrush and outdoor contaminates that accumulate in a hip holster.

But I'll be the first to admit that when 'in town', I always carry in a Milt Sparks VM2 IWB. There IS a place for shoulder rigs, probably just not for every day carry. JME

For cold weather, the Galco Miami Classic II. Horizontal carry, plus 16 rds. in spare mags. (45).

Also, great while in a vehicle, no seat belt issues like with a right side belt carry.

I also carried a Miami Classic in the late 1970s, for a very brief period. I worked in an office, and that entailed wearing a sport coat all day. It got old fast.

I sold my Classic shortly after, and went to a smaller defensive pistol.
