Why I open carry

Being 62 and in a wheel chair or electric cart at stores, (after losing a leg) I feel better letting the punks know I am carrying (and it saved me from getting robbed at least twice that I know of):

I also have a "badge" on my holster that simply says "concealed carry" on it. the (managers) used to follow me around in walmart until I added the badge, now they just assume I am a deputy and let me shop in peace..... oh, and I do have an Alabama CCW permit too, so I am legal. Alabama is great in that you see other people all the time in stores open carrying and nobody really cares, and the only store down here that I have seen with a no guns sign out, is Costco...and I don't shop there....Bob.

Bob, hats off to you for having the grit and moxie to open carry. You are sending a message for sure.

If I opened carried in IL, I would be subject to arrest. We only able to be licensed for CC.

Lastly, I used to live in Decatur, AL back in the early 80's. I got down to Mobile a few times.

Good for you. I coming down that way sometime and look at Spanish Fort. My Great Grandfather fought there in 1865 for the Union. He was with Wilson's Cavalry Corps.

Absolutely NONE of my business Bob and no offense but be super careful some "Roach" doesn't come up from behind, surprise you and grab that shooter. Personally I trust next to no one and again don't mean to get into you're business.

I applaud the right to open carry and your fortitude to do it....but....I'm not a fan of the cop wannabe badges. I think you're asking for trouble displaying it.

Well Bob, I understand your reason for open carry. Up here in your northern neighbor state of Tennessee open carry is allowed but I don't do it. Interesting thing with the badge. So your local police don't have a problem with that and even encouraged it?
No body has actually looked at your badge and read what it says?
Are there any state laws against displaying a badge?
To me displaying a badge puts a huge target on your back for no good reason.
Not judging or saying your wrong that's great if it works for you.
