Micro 9 Questions

Hey Everyone,

I am brand new to the forum and have found tons of great info so far. Thanks to everyone that let me creep around .

I do have some Micro 9 questions that I was hoping someone might be able to chime in on.

1) Is the Micro 9 picky with ammo like the Solo is?
2) Will they make a Micro 9 in a striker fire, or is that the Solo? I know they are very similar, but from what I can tell the internals of the Micro 9 are different than the Solo.
3) Anyone know if they will make the Micro in a "DC" option? If so, when?
4) It appeared the barrel and recoil spring of the Micro 9 was different than the Solo. I'm assuming this might have been a "learning from the Solo experience". Can anyone comment on the reliability of the Micro 9 vs. the Solo? (and yes I know the Micro 9 is very new, so reliability might not be proven yet)
5) Not Micro 9 specific, but from what I hear the DLC coating on the slides of the DC models is excellent. However I hear the finish on the frame (KimPro II finish) is a bit garbage. Does anyone know why they don't DLC the frame too?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois yourbandsucks. I have yet to see a Micro 9 in any of my LGS. I think the Micro 9 is going to be a lot like the Sig P938 like the Micro Carry is to the Sig P238. I doubt Kimber will make a Micro 9 striker fired. I've heard people on other forums complain about the finish on Kimbers but I've never experienced a problem with any of my guns.

The Micro 9 is not based off the Solo . . . it is a close clone to the Sig P938. Go to the Micro 9 vs P938 {click the link provided above) for more in-depth information on the Micro 9.

So far it has performed flawlessly for me, it is quickly becoming my favorite Micro 9mm.

The Micro 9 is a 9mm version of the Micro .380.
It bears no resemblance in design or appearance to the Solo.
While the DC model in the Solo has the slide with the Diamond Like Coating, the Micro 9 may or may not have this finish as other DC models do not.
While the Micro .380 started out with some reliability problems, I think the new flat spring/guide rod they've developed will resolve those problems.
As for reliability of the Micro 9, time will tell.

Good stuff guys, thanks.

What kind of ammo are you feeding through it? Well actually less concerned with type, more curious on if the Micro 9 is as picky as the Solo.

My Micro 9 digests 115 gr. Remington, Federal, Speer and White box with no problem.

Will be trying 124 gr. this weekend. Just received my Kimber Micro 9 holster (mini scabbard) today. It is a perfect fit and has adjustable tension. Looks like the same holster on the Kimber website only no stamped Kimber logo. Ordered it from Midway.

How long after

Does any body remember how long after the debut of the micro 380 it took for other models to be introduced? Like the raptor?

I'd like to know the answer to that too. Also, does anyone used Crimson Trace lasergrips on any of their Kimbers? I'd like to know what you think of them. Thanks.
