If the manufacturer does there job and the barrel vs the slide and are all perfectly aligned, then it is just a matter of centering the sights. It really isn't rocket science. It can be fast with the right tools but not so fast if you are using a hammer and punch.
For many years I did it that way. Never ruined a gun or sight. But now that I'm getting older, I invested in 3 tools just for that job because I install more sights than most common owners.
1) Universal sight pusher
2) Decent set of calipers
3) A set of medical dividers like the doctors use for reading charts. Not like an architect or cryptographer would use.
Pretty much good to go with that.
