Broken Raptor grips

Less than 10 days out of the 1 year warranty and only about 400 rounds fired through my micro 9 raptor I noticed one of my raptor grips was cracked. I called Kimber and they would not cover this under warranty. Pretty shitty of them. They charged me $65 for new grips.

It sucks that they didn't take care of the grips since not long ago one of our members had the same thing happen and they replaced his.

Over the years on KT there have been many instances where a gun was past the warranty date and they fixed it anyway.

I would go up the chain at Kimber and see if they can remedy this somehow.

EDIT---Additional Info
Another member had the same thing happen and Kimber replaced the grips also. When you call them bring up these two stories and see if it helps.

Sorry to hear they wouldn’t warranty the grips. They took care of mine but it was less than a year when they cracked.
When I looked on eBay and saw how much they were selling for I would have gladly spent $65 for a new set.

Sucky problem but not totally unheard of.

I’ve owned my micro 9 raptor just about 30 days and I also have a cracked right grip. Customer service is sending me a new set but it makes me wonder if there is more of a problem and if this will be a continual problem.

It might be the Zebra wood

The grips on my Raptor have not cracked but the grips on my Eclipse have cracked two different sets. The common denominator is the same wood they use to make the raptor grips was on my Eclipse and these were made by SGM. The Zebra wood may not be good for gun grips. I have not put that many rounds through my Raptor yet to know if there will be a problem. SGM warranteed my grips both times.

When I got the chance I jumped on buying a spare set of Raptor grips from some member here that didn't like the look. Can't remember who it was...Marshall probably knows who it was.

I bought 3 or 4 extra sets. I have a few raptors too and wanted to make sure I had back up pairs just in case. Never know if Kimber will warranty them or not a few years down the road if they happen to split

I wonder if the maker of the Raptor grips that Kimber uses has changed material of the wood over the years. I have an UCII Raptor that was made in 2005 and another in 2011 with no issues at all. It seems the issue of them splitting seems to be with the Micro 9 for the most part.
