Range Report #1

My new Micro 9 arrived on Tuesday. Prior to receiving it I made a point of viewing all 29 pages of this forum, reading the threads that I thought I would benefit from. I also downloaded the operator's manual and read all 84 pages. I figured this would benefit me if I had any issues with the gun. When the gun arrived I measured the trigger pull with an analog gauge. The pull was right at 7#. I then field stripped the gun, cleaned and oiled it after which I sling shot operated the slide and dry fired it about 200 times. I broke it down again, looking for wear patterns and made sure that any found had sufficient lube. On Thursday, I went to the range where I put 150 rounds through it. I started with 75 rounds of 147 grains, followed by 50 rounds of 124 grains, then 25 round of 115 grains. All three were FMJ but from different manufacturers. The gun performed flawlessly with all three bullet weights. As you can see from the attached thumbnail, it shoots about 2 3/4 to 3" high with both the iron sights as well as the laser. I would expect this as Kimber states that their sight in distance is 25 yards. My friend had previously expressed a concern that the Micro 9 would have too much recoil. He fired it and changed his opinion. He was surprised at the mild recoil. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to more good shooting.

Congratulations on the great range day tommy b. You did everything right, first you read your owners manual. Then cleaned and lubed the gun prior to to making your range visit, additionally you took the time to work the slide and dry fired the gun a couple of hundred times, that really helps with the initial break in.

Good for you. I agree with Chuck and if all Micro9 owners prepared the pistol for the range like you did we would hear and read about very, very few issues with the little heater.

Nice shooting Tommy b, it pays to take the time and prep the gun before you go to the range. Good job.

I have another post on this Forum where I say I am eyeing the Micro 9 to go on my Christmas List. I’m a Planner ! I am so glad to see you think the recoil is mild, some online reviews state it is not. Course others here agree with you! Glad you are enjoying yours.
