Micro 9 follow up

I previously wrote on here about my new Micro 9 that had a guide rod break after 140 rounds. Kimber replaced it quickly and since then I have taken it to the range twice.

First time I ran 400 rounds through it with plenty of failure to feeds. Today I took it back and fire 200 through it. I had about 10 failure to feed during those 200. I am using five different seven round mags and a mixture of different ammos (mainly 124/147, but also some 115).

There doesn't seem to be any correlation between ammo or mag when it fails. I'm hoping its about broken in by now (at 760 rounds), so I'm not sure what to do next. Each time it has been cleaned after firing and ensured proper oil before going.

Next thing I noticed is I shoot low with it. At about 15 feet, I shoot about 2-3" low. I had two other pistols out there (P365 and a full 1911) and shot dead center with both of them, so I don't think its my technique. Is there a way to adjust the sites on the Micro 9?

Overall, I like the pistol and still want it to be my EDC. At this point to I need to look into sending it to Kimber for the FTF or is there some magic thing I can do to fix it. I have not polished the feed ramp yet, but thats because Ive been trying to break it in before I do much to it.

Any advice on the failure to feeds? Anyone else have similar issues?

I'd try another ammunition manufacturer. If the same thing happens, send it back to Yonkers.

Sounds to me like you need to call Kimber and send the gun back. Why waste anymore ammo, 760 rounds and your still having issues. I doubt this has anything to do with break in.

Have you checked the extractor tension ? If too tight it definitely would cause a failure to feed. You can search YouTube for 1911 extractor test and get a lot of hits and info.

I'll check out the extractor video. If that doesn't work, I'll give Kimber a call on Tuesday.

Thanks ya'll.

Checked out the extractor, it seem to be fine. Called Kimber today and it is headed back to Yonkers. I'll let you all know how it goes once I get it back.
