Micro 9 problem

I could have posted just below-problem @ the range.

I reload and just obtained a LE Wilson case gauge-9mm. Rounds/brass fit fine. Went w/ wife this afternoon and loaded up. Gun would not fire. Not in battery by about 3/16".

Now I cant get the slide to go forward or backward.

Any suggestions?? all will be tried.

So if I understand.....you load your own ammo and loaded some 9mm and what you loaded will not seat in the weapon but when placed in the gauge it is within tolerance?

Out of battery by 3/16" is quite a bit in my book. I use to reload but never 9mm...only .380 and .357 utilizing a Lee loader. If the rounds are perfect in the gauge let me ask......did you take the weapon apart to clean prior to the range and maybe something was not put back right possibly?

Usual suspects in rounds not going bang in reloading is failure to seat a primer or seat the bullet at proper depth in my experience.

I would break down the pistol and clean then reassemble to try again. But I also failed to ask.....did you try store bought rounds to see if they would fire in the pistol?

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois langenc. If this is a new gun did you clean and lube it before making your first range visit? Are you having the same problem with factory ammo as you're having with your reloads? If you are then give Kimbers Customer Service a call and neglect mentioning anything about using reloads, if you're not the go back and recheck your reloads.

Got the offending round out. Gun shot fine w/ some Rem UMC ammo.

Must be my ammo that drops thru the Wilson gage like goose grease.

Will try again.

Friend had a short brass rid and small hammer. I pulled back on the slide and he inserted rod and gave just one light tap and round popped free. I couldnt get it by hand.

Recent developments...

I removed the barrel from another 9 mm that also had similar ammo loading problem.

I dropped a commercial round in the chamber and noted how far(deep?) it went into the chamber. I did the same w/ a reload and the reload drops in nice (plunk) but is about 0.035 from chambering as far as the commercial. That would make the difference when it is time to close the bolt as explained in OP.

I took the reload and seated the bullet deeper, 25, 35 and 45 thousands and it made very little difference in the amount the cartridge seated.

Empty, sized, polished brass seats just like the commercial ammo-about 25-35 thousands more than the reloads.

Any syggestions will be appreciated.
