PVD Micro9

Local gun shop has this one in their case. Itís obviously not a factory color but wanted to see everyoneís opinions especially with all the PVD coatings gaining more popularity lately.

I don't see the point putting PVD on the barrel.

I agree and also add, other than looks, I don’t see the benefit of applying PVD on any part of a firearm. Although lots of people are doing it and it is selling well.

What’s your thoughts on the aesthetics? Not just the blue but the idea of “coloring” the barrel.

Since I have a Sapphire Ultra the blue appeals to me but the blue barrel would not influence me to buy or not buy. I like the grooves in the barrel but that is a cool feature don't really need those to function.

I had my onyx barrel done in blacK PVD. Itís not the same as the DLC on the slide but I do like it.

I think a black skeleton trigger would look great on your Onyx Ultra.

Coloring the barrel is cool, particularly fluted barrels.

In the OP... the blue doesn't work at all.

Black Onyx... An unpolished black barrel with the high polish black slide wouldn't have been my personal choice. Simply polishing the barrel would have been a nice contrast. As far as a color, I think gold would have been a great contrast. Personal.

Not my gun or pic... from Weapon Evolution Forums.
