Micro 9 vs. Ultra II

I am looking to buy a new carry pistol and was looking at the Micro 9 Stainless Raptor and the Stainless Ultra Raptor II (also 9mm). Can anyone tell me why there is such a MSRP price difference ($889.00 and $1307.00) between these two guns? Also does anyone have experiecne with these pistols and prefer one over the other?

Welcome to the site from Tennessee. Yes! Yes I can tell you. First, I don't own a Micro9. I do own a Stainless Raptor Ultra, awesome looking, accurate pistol. In the top 5 of best looking most popular pistol Kimber ever made IMO.
Micro9 is not a true 1911 design.
If you shop on GunBroker or other online places you might beat the $1307 price. I have seen used ones go for $1,000 to $1,200. If I had to knowing what I know now I would pay the 1300 over the Micro9 price, IMO it would be worth it.

Looks, style, fit, reliable function, resale value.

I bought mine previously loved from a KT member for $1,000, I was happy, he was happy.
If I had/needed to I feel certain I could sell it on KT for probably more than 1K.

There have been a few problems related to the Micro9, not so much with the Ultra's.

The Ultra Raptor II is a real 1911 style pistol. The Micro 9 is a smaller, simpler pistol that is less expensive to manufacture.

Both should be 100% reliable. But generally, the 1911 style will offer more firepower and slicker functionality. The 1911 is a better gun, but if you're looking for a smaller package that offers easier concealment, go with the Micro.

Why does the 1911 style offer more firepower in 9mm? I went with the Micro 9 for 8+1 in a very concealable package. Smaller than my J-frame and only about 4 oz heavier. Only thing I don't like is the 5 Lb trigger pull.

Welcome from Northeast, Pa.

I think they are both excellent carry guns. I don’t have a Micro 9 I have a Sig P938(basically the same gun). I switch between the 938 and my SS Ultra TLE 45. I would say the Ultra is going to offer better accuracy with less practice. The Micro will take more effort to perfect. The Micro is easier and lighter to carry all day. If you live in the warmer climate states you would probably prefer the Micro 9.
There is no wrong choice here, it’s whatever you feel comfortable carrying. Go to a gun shop and pick up both and you will see why the Ultra Raptor is more money.
The Ultra Raptor was priced ridiculously high and I would definitely shop around like 2sharp2 recommended. I’m not sure about the Micro 9 Raptor but I bet you can find one cheaper. You maybe able to get an Ultra Raptor and a different Micro 9 for $1300.

I have both, the difference is the size and weight. and with size and weight most people will be more accurate. The true 1911 is a tried and true design, but in warmer weather a little harder for most people to conceal. Like the above posts stated go and hold both and then you can decide or buy both.

ON GunBroker there is an active auction for a Stainless Raptor Ultra 9mm with 10 hours to go it is sitting at $655 dollars, I would bid on that if I was you.
There are 10 listings for a Raptor Ultra.
Also a new one priced at $1,039 bucks which is a good price if you are afraid on used.
