Price difference worth it? DN vs LG

I'm brand new to a Kimber but the Micro 9 has been on my bucket list for some time now. So, I made an impulse buy last week and got a desert tan dn for $650, which I thought was fair. Now in hindsight, I could have bought one with a laser for the same price, and I can't figure out what the difference is between mine and one with the laser besides grip and try glow. Seems like the laser is the better deal and I could add tru glow later. I'm not really second guessing my purchase, just trying to see if mine is actually more desireable than the laser grip models or has some better features because if you do the math, the laser model seem to be a bit cheaper.

Welcome to the forum from Northeast, Pa Hamilton71801. Congratulations on Micro 9. There is no right answer regarding “more desirable “. It all about what the person buying the gun wants.
I would recommend cleaning, lube and racking the slide a 100x or so before shooting. A little extra oil during break in never hurts. Use ball ammo for around 500 rounds before using self defense ammo.

Thanks for the feedback. I've already put 250 rounds thru it and it cycled everything except the cheap steel cased ammo from Wal-Mart. I started out with 115g blazers (shot all I had), then went to 124g self defense (shot all I had) and then tried the cheap steel case ammo and it had FTE issues every other shot until I oiled up the gun and it ran fine. But I had go oil after every other clip but it wasnt a big deal. I'll continue to break it in with 124g and 115 blazers.

So far I like it but it just seemed strange that I could buy one with a $350 laser grip for the same price. Kimber has the Hogue grip for $26 and the tru glows for $189 I think. So, that's $150 difference which got me to wondering if I got took or if there was something special about mine.

Kimber is practically giving away the laser grips when supplied on certain models. Micro 9 Rosewood laser grips sell for $359.

Many of us do not like laser grips to begin with. Perhaps Kimber is picking up on that. Who knows?

I think I would have been money ahead to get the laser version and then either sell the grips and modify mine or just put tru glows on it. I couldn't see a difference but the hogue felt better in my hand. If I would have priced the laser before I went in it would have been a no brainer. Hopefully mine has something special that sets it apart from the others, but I figure they're all the same...

I agree with the break-in # of rounds. Laser vs. night sights is a personal preference. I prefer night sights myself.

I looked up your model on the Kimber website. Very handsome gun and I know it will serve you well.
If you stay in touch on the forum long enough you'll probably see someone offering to sell their laser grip panels at a discount.
