New Micro 9 with an ISSUE!!!!!

Hi Everyone I'm new to the forum and new to Kimber although I am not new to firearms.
I'm looking for some opinions and advice regarding my Micro 9.
It's about two weeks old. The first time I shot it I put 50 rounds through it and the gun ran flawlessly.
The second time I was about 30 rounds through a box when the gun became just about impossible to rack.
With the slide in the closed position, empty chamber and mag-well, safety off, I inserted a 7round magazine. At that point it would not rack.
I happened to be at my dealer when this occurred, He couldn't rack it either but discovered if he engaged the safety, he could force the slide to rack.
Also it would rack if the slide was open and a fresh Mag was installed.
I called Kimber CS and explained. They wanted to see the gun so I sent it to them. I also asked if they could install an ambidextrous safety while they were inspecting it. No problem.
So today I received a call from Kimber telling me that they couldn't find a problem and that all Micro 9's are tough to rack.
I forgot to mention to them that the first 50 rounds were smooth as silk. My bad.
Anyway I tried to tell them it was not just hard, it was impossible to rack
They proceeded to instruct me not to use my fingertips but use a firm grip to rack! What a hoot.
Bottom line they are sending the gun back to me.
Has anyone heard of or experienced this issue with a Micro 9?

How many rounds did they run to test your gun?

I didn't ask. In hind site I thought of a ton of questions to ask after I hung up. It was the end of their day, when I called them back they were gone.

Are you thinking the gun has to get hot before it happens?

No I was wondering how many rounds went through it for them to work the gun and make sure that it is up to snuff. You said it ran great the first 50 rounds. I hope they were able to shoot several rounds without any problems. I do not think that the heat of the gun caused this. I have shot 200 rounds before in my micro9 and not had a problem with heat. Let us know how it turns out when you get your gun back.

I would rack the slide a couple hundred times when it comes back before shooting it again. I would also add extra oil before shooting and a few drops every 50 rounds until it’s broken in with 124gr and 147gr round nose ammo for 500 rounds. Also make sure it’s clean every outing.

When I sent mine in, they shot three magazines through it to test. In the letter that came back with it, they explained how many, what brand and what weight. It also had the target they shot at. I assume yours will as well.

Did you cock the hammer by hand and it still wouldn't rack? They are difficult to rack with the hammer dropped, but not impossible.

Whether or not you did, when you get it back, cock the hammer and as JC 45 suggested rack the slide 100 times with no mag in it. Generally, when I insert a loaded mag I do it with the slide open, so a round can be chambered when it closes. I'm not sure I've ever inserted a full mag into a closed pistol. I don't know why a person would do that. I always want a round in the chamber, safety on.
