Micro 9 7 round vs 8 round mags

What does everyone who has both think of them? Good, bad or other...Have 2 7 round mags and was contemplating picking up a couple 8's.

They function over the 7 by giving you an additional round. Mine is just as reliable as the 7 round plus I like the added length, it makes for a more comfortable grip, for me anyway.

I've run a full 8 round mag a couple times and it's functioned fine so far. I plan to use the 7 round in the gun for cc and the 8 round as a spare mag for cc.

I've got the 7 and 8 round Kimbers and don't have a preference.
I do prefer modifying the Sig P290 8-round mags and baseplates because I prefer the shape of the modified baseplate.

I have seen exactly one of them and shot my gun with it installed. Only comment I have is that part of the usefulness of the micro-9 is its diminutive size. This extends the grip another round's width, which was a noticeable change when I stuck the gun in my pocket. My micro-9 came with the 7 rounders and I have grown to really like the extra length as the gun is not unpleasant to fire at all. I shot one with a 6 rounder and the grip is a tad short. My Smith 637 has the CT laser grips (#405 I think) that does NOT extend the grip. Leaving my pinky hanging in the wind. The air pocket on the back does soften the recoil however and I have fired a bunch of rounds through it at one session with no ill effects.

So for the 8 rounder, another round is always a good thing so long as the lengthened grip doesn't cause you any issues when carrying. My Smith is amazingly carryable but since I bought this micro-9, it is ALL that I keep with me 24/7... I would not want the longer grip myself. If you get into a fire-fight where you need a 9th round, you are probably using the wrong firearm anyway. To defend against 1 or 2 assailants, if 8 is not enough, I probably should not have gotten into the situation in the first place.

Personally, I am pro gun control. If you can control your gun, you don't need a bunch of rounds with excessive collateral damage.

My 9mm moonclipped 637 is a lot lighter than my Micro 9. I like that.
But my Micro 9 is a lot smaller than my 637, and I like that even more.
I use a modded 8-round Sig P290 mag in the Micro 9 because it provides a spot for my little finger while still being about 1/8" shorter than the 8-round Kimber mag.

I have the 8 rounder, it works fine. But Ill carry it with the 7 and keep the 8 as a spare in a pocket sleeve.
