Micro 9 does NOT like 147gr HST duty rounds?!

Went to the range today primarily to sight in the new Optics on my CZ Scorpion as well as sight in my Kimber Classic .45 w/a new threaded barrel I put in as well as a new Leupold Deltapoint Optic. Both were great, and the CZ is lethal - WOW!

While I was there, thought I'd send some duty rounds down range w/the little Kimber (Micro 9). Intended to run HST 147gr as that's what I intend to run in the CZ Scorpion (due to being subsonic). Well, apparently my Kimber doesn't like that round. At 7 yrds, after I sent magazine down range, I brought the target in to look (indoor range) and I was like WTF?! So I went again, but really tried to focus on breathing and pull (I was only sending these rounds through to make sure they fed well). Same thing - WTF? So I rested on the bench and sent some and they were a tighter group at 7yrds but 4-5" low. WTF x10!!! So I put some cheap Blazer Brass 124gr ball ammo in and I was back to acceptable again - ~1.5" low @7yrds w/tight group (1-1.5").

So I guess I'll try some other ammo. The good news was it fed well I guess . I've got some HST 124gr +p at home I guess I'll try next?!

This is the first time I've experienced a gun shooting like such $hit with a quality duty round.

What are you guys finding works best for duty/defensive rounds in the Micro 9?

I have heard great things about that round. What weight bullet do you use in your Micro 9? The 147 HST was NOT good. The 124gr ball ammo was fine. I've got some 124 +P HST so I'll shoot that next.

Interesting, what brand threaded barrel did you change to? Did you mill the top of the slide to mount the optic? Pics?

I didn't want to get that committed to the optic approach so I didn't have it milled. Got a dovetail mount from EGW --> Click Here

I went with a Kimber threaded barrel. It just dropped right in. Gotta get use to the new sight height (train my muscle memory) but it will help once my suppressor gets out of the lockup (waiting on tag).

What does your Micro 9 do with the Hornady?

I am very happy to learn about the EGW dovetail mounts. I may end up using some for a Pro or Ultra size in 9mm threaded I have in my mind to build.

Got back to the range today, put a handful of HST 124gr +p through the Micro 9. Definite improvement over the 147gr. The 124gr +p was right back on target.

the red tip sticks to the feed ramp occasionally, which is too often. HST or Speer Gold Dot feed fine.
