Praise the Lord and pass the ammo

Took the wife with her micro Bel Air and five of my relatives from California up into the mountains today to do some shooting. Very happy to report that the new Kimber flat spring and guide rod worked perfectly in her micro Bel Air. 100 rounds without a single hick up. We shot or I should say she shot 100 rounds of Winchester white box truncated cone practice ammo. The next time we go out we will advance to some self defense loads and put 100 rounds of self defense through it and then she'll have a new carry gun. Maybe some will remember I posted that I bought her that micro Bel Air for Christmas last December and after our first very disappointing range trip which included many malfunctions it will now come out of the safe and probably go into her purse. That is a big promotion and she is very happy. I was looking at that new guide rod and it is very similar to the Sig guide rod and system on the P938. It was good of Kimber to send me the new parts but it would be better if they would spend a little more time and testing and come out with those in the first place. If anybody is having trouble feeding they should call customer service and get one of those new flat Springs with the newly designed guide rod.
PS I polished the feed ramp and the chamber myself. I don't know if that made a difference but it sure didn't hurt.

Glad to hear that all went well Big Sky :-) If it worked with the Winchester ammo I bet you're good to go.

That's great news! Would have been a shame to keep such a pretty gun in the safe.

Thanks guys for the likes and comments. I was also going to say that if anybody has a micro, even if it functions well, I would still go ahead and order that new guide rod and flat wound recoil spring because I think that is going to be standard issue now. And yes the wife is very happy now she has two reliable barbecue guns in 380 caliber her Sig 238 Rainbow and now her micro Bel Air.

Sounds like a good session, and a good upgrade. I will have to get 2 ordered for the wife and I.

Thanks, and glad such a pretty gun is getting the proper carry time.

If you're having any trouble at all with those two micros I would call customer service and I think that is now their standard fix. They will be shipped from Kalispell Montana at no charge.

If you think about it, Kimber ought to step up and do the right thing and issue a recall on those micro 380s at least put out a letter telling every owner that they will send them a new spring and guide rod after all it is a fix not an upgrade. It could be a life safety issue. I'll bet there are some folks who bought one, cleaned it, loaded it and are carrying without testing firing. None of us would do that but I'm sure there are some newbies who are carrying an unfired, untested micro 380.
