Should I Cerakote My Micro?

I have a two-tone Advocate, black slide and silverish painted frame, which are both starting show some finish wear from carrying it.

I really like the look of the all black Micro DC and am wondering if I should have the gun Cerakoted?:

I like black pocket guns.

Sport/Marshall....I don't post personal gun pictures on KT or any site, for any reason. Never have/never will. Taking IP risk is for those that choose to do so, I don't.

If you have a problem with that, choose a orifice.
End of subject.

Cerakote wears also. I've cerakoted 3 and I am happy with the results. IMO, unless the gun is super fugly, it's about changing the looks of the pistol.

I had this done a few months ago, and love it.

If you want an all black gun which I think are sharp looking then go for it. I've been looking for a local Cerakoter myself.

Guncrafter uses an ION bonding process for their black barrels it is suppose to be pretty good stuff. I do not know what it would cost. I plan on talking to Jason Wednesday I will post what I learn. I believe Tankgunner bought a Colt that has ION bonding on the frame and slide.

If that's what you want I say go for it.
There is new talk of Ion Bonding, which is fine and I have no idea which is better. I think the main problem could be finding a Ion Bonding company.

I found at a LGS about 20 miles from my house that does Cerakote, took less than two weeks and I think I paid about $150 before sales tax. I had my old Detonics coated, the Detonics collectors said I ruined it's value but I didn't care cause I wasn't going to sell it anyway. I like how it turned out.

How about parkerizing? It's a simple process you can do at home with thrift-shop stainless pots.

I think that is the finish that was on my Detonics when I bought it many years ago. It was pretty tuff but showed wear and use, but most of all it was butt ugly and I had became tired of looking at it.

I have Cerakoted two of my Kimbers and they turned out great and more durable than the KimPro finish..

In fact I'm bored with my PC II being 2 toned and I'm going back to an all black just like it came from Yonkers, just in Cerakote..

I like that dark color in the photo. Looks like a charcoal or dark gray blue.
